Friday

Dear All,
Harry has arrived, I'm feeling better, and we had a productive and lovely evening with the supporters of ACA last night in Winterpark.  I'm heading off soon to my morning conferences.  What I'd like us to try over the weekend is the "Poem of Address," on the Pages section to the right of this post.  I have given you several examples.  In this poem, you are speaking to an other: dead or alive, known or unknown, another or your other "self."  You can speak to an other who is absent or present, in the present or in the past, an other in a future to come.  This can be any length, lineated or in short prose (short prose will help those of you working on memoirs, and you may want to try an address that might be used within your memoir in some way.  Epistolary poems fall into this category of address.  These are poems written in the form of letters.  There are also epistolary memoirs and novels, although they are rare.  I'm thinking that you should try these, post them, and they may become part of our Sunday meeting.  I hope you can meet Harry some time this weekend, but he leaves Sunday morning.  I will see how we can arrange to run into you!
Warmest wishes,
Carolyn
p.s. have fun kite flying!  Pat and Richard were terrific last night
