Dear Carolyn and Associates:
I am writing from an apartment in a snow-caked, yellow colonial house on the inner harbor of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Though this is the most protected harbor on the Eastern seaboard, white caps are rolling in. I can see this through only one window as the others, on all sides of the
house, are totally packed with ice and snow.
Since a visit to the ACA in the spring of 2009, those tropical boardwalks and star-crusted nights have loomed large in my memory. I find it almost daunting to return to such opulence. But it's nearly time!
I've been working to edit and complete my first poetry collection. With so many piles around, I've stopped composing new stuff. I'd really like to write some new poems, which is one of my hopes for Florida.
Thank you, Carolyn,
for your lovely welcome note. And thank you others, too. I so look forward to
working with all of you.
With best wishes,
Margot
PS: Craig, Your poem is so intriguing. Like Rae, I was struck by the lines “When I
close my eyes I see high school exes / with ELECTRIPLEX® and FRA TYPE I
TIER II /
tattooed
on their lower backs.” I like the sound of "JALOPY SONNETS," too. Also I'm fond
of these “middle-schoolers"...
