Welcome message

Dear poets and writers,
I'm so looking forward to our residency together at the Atlantic Center for the Arts.  As some of you know and other are soon to discover, it is a magical place where unexpected break-throughs and thrilling collaborations become possible.  The ACA offers you walkways through a tropical forest, starry nights, a magnificent library and gallery, a beautiful nearby beach, pods of manatee not far off and as nurturing an environment for artistic work as any I have experienced.  The weather can be summery warm with cool nights, or, at this time of year, a bit cold.  Bring everything from a bathing suit to a warm jacket.
My last Master Workshop was long ago, in January of 1989, and I still know the poets who worked with me then, and am proud to say that a number of books came of it.  We worked in the old-fashioned way, as laptops hadn't yet been invented, and the web was in its infancy.  For this workshop, I have created the blog you are viewing now.  This site will constitute one of the meeting places for our community prior to, during, and after our workshop.  You may post your work here, your thoughts, your comments on each other's work, and anything else you wish to share with the group.  Even when we are together in Florida, this is a place you can come in the middle of the night, and at all hours, to share, discuss and confide.  I will be loading this site with "Pages" (see column to your right) of materials for your reading pleasure.  These are shared only with the members of this workshop.  The site is not available to the public.
Prior to our meeting in Florida, I welcome you to introduce yourselves here, share a poem or two, and begin getting to know each other so that when we arrive at ACA we will already be friends and can really begin in earnest.
I will be in Ireland, first at a monastery and then at a poetry festival, until the day before I travel to you.  But I will be here for you from now on.
Very best wishes,
Carolyn
